More declines for JSE main market – Thursday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange ended trading on Thursday with The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index dropping 4,474.99 points to end at 563,700.93, the JSE Index declined by 3,932.73 points to 513,291.77.
The JSE Financial Index fell 1.84 points to close at 139.99. At the close of trading, 17 advanced, 15 declined and 5 traded firm as a total of 39 securities traded in the main and US markets compared to 36 securities trading on Wednesday. Market activity ended with 18,740,935 units valued at over $117,219,686, in contrast to 50,725,660 units valued at $109,446,038 on Wednesday.
Sagicor Select Fund led trading with 11.8 million shares for 63 percent of total volume, followed Wigton Windfarm with 3 million units accounting for 16 percent of the day’s trade and JMMB Group 7.50% preference share with 1 million shares for 5 percent of the main market’s volume.
The Market closed with an average of 506,512 units valued at an average of $3,168,100 for each security traded. In contrast to 1,449,305 units for an average of $3,127,030 on Wednesday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 752,201 units valued at $6,771,654 and previously 781,431 units valued at an average of $7,254,739.
The market closed out August with an average of 1,743,431 units valued at $9,907,963 for each security traded.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading shows 2 stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and 13 with lower offers.
In main market activity, Caribbean Cement declined by $1.50 to settle at $77.50 with 34,432 shares changing hands, Eppley Caribbean Property traded 200 shares after rising $1.99 to close at a low of $44.99, Jamaica Stock Exchange lost $1.44 to settle at $24.56 with 584,070 shares changing hands. JMMB Group shed $1.45 to settle at $48 with an exchange of 68,148 units, Kingston Wharves gained 99 cents to end at $64, trading 3,470 shares, Mayberry Jamaican Equities gained 48 cents to end at $12.48, trading 100 shares. MPC Caribbean Energy gained $22.66 to end at $153.06, trading 520 shares, NCB Financial slipped $3.05 to end at $209, with an exchange of 65,205 stock units, Panjam Investment fell 40 cents to settle at $101 with 188,107 shares changing hands. Pulse Investments added 70 cents to close at $3.60 with an exchange of 197,642 shares, Scotia Group exchanged 236,649 shares after rising by 80 cents to end at $57.30, Seprod climbed $2.75 to settle at $54 with 64,415 shares changing hands, Sygnus Credit Investments rose $2 in trading 68,673 shares at $24 and Wisynco traded 383,221 shares and rose $1 to close at $23.
Traded in the US dollar market ended with 9,585 units valued at $9,015 trading and ended with JMMB Group 6% preference share with a gain of 1 cent to end at US$1.01 trading 8,615 shares and Proven Investments trading 970 shares rose to settle at 25 US cents. The JSE USD Equities Index declined by 3.74 points to close at 190.71.
