JSE stocks eye 350,000 points – Thursday

At the close of trading on Thursday, the Jamaica Stock Exchange jumped more than 3,900 points to new record close with the All Jamaican Composite Index sitting less than 1,000 from the 350,000 mark.
At 12:30 the All Jamaican Composite Index surged 5,035.03 to 348,774.63 points but pulled back after to close the day with a leap of 4,299.21 points to a record closing high of 349,038.81 and the JSE Index 3,917.07 points to a record close of 318,013.77. Market activities resulted in 27 securities trading including 1 in the US dollar market compared to 29 securities trading on Wednesday.
At the end of trading, the prices of 8 stocks rose, 9 declined and 10 traded unchanged. Caribbean Cement traded at an intraday high of $56 but ended at $45 by the close.
Trading in the main market ended with 7,549,926 units valued at $378,631,059 versus 7,397,463 units valued at $122,484,133 on Wednesday.
The day’s volume was led by, Kingston Wharves with 4,05,328 units and 53 percent of the main market volume, followed by NCB Financial Group exchanging 1,012,510 shares and 13.4 percent of the day’s trades and PanJam Investment with 708,674 units accounting for 9.4 percent of traded volume.
Stocks with major price changes| Kingston Wharves rose 80 cents and finished at $52.50, with 4 million shares, Mayberry Investments fell 50 cents and settled at $7.50, with 9,200 units, Mayberry Equities climbed 50 cents to $9 in trading 231,400 shares, NCB Financial jumped $2 and finished trading of just over 1 million shares at $105, Sagicor Group shed 43 cents to close at $37.57, in exchanging 29,508 units, Sagicor Real Estate Fund climbed 90 cents and settled at $14.90, with 17,616 shares, Seprod finished trading 10,732 shares, but lost 49 cents to close at $35.51, Supreme Ventures ended at $15, with 21,164 shares after losing 30 cents, Sygnus Credit Investments dropped $2.29 to a 52 weeks’ low of $10 in trading 10,000 shares and Wisynco Group gained 30 cents and finished trading at $9.30,with 67,338 units.
Trading in the US dollar market closed with Proven Investments trading 7,966 shares valued at US$1,593 and closed at 20 US cents. The JSE USD Equities Index was unchanged at 159.36.
Trading resulted in an average of 290,382 units valued at $14,562,733, in contrast to 273,980 shares valued at $4,536,449 on Wednesday. For the month to date an average of 211,092 shares valued at an average of $4,956,066 versus 203,253 shares valued at an average of $3,906,599 on Wednesday. July closed with an average of 169,022 units valued at $3,514,756, for each security traded.
