JSE main market pulls back – Monday

Trading ended with the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index dropped 3,105.25 points to close at 534,818.03, the JSE Index declined 2,821.86 points to close at 486,998.17 and The JSE Financial Index lost 0.85 points in closing at 131.46 points.
Market activity resulted in 36 securities trading in the main and US dollar markets and leading to 12 securities advancing, 13 declining and 11 trading firm, compared to 37 securities trading on Friday.  Trading ended with 107,625,972 units valued $2,479,735,496 compared to 21,073,881 units valued $137,343,684 changing hands.
Supreme Ventures dominated trading with 93.84 million shares for 87 percent of total main market volume, followed by Wigton Windfarm with 10.3 million stock units for 10 percent of total volume and Scotia Group with 912,713 shares for just under one percent of the day’s volume.
The market closed with average of 3,363,312 units valued at $77,491,734 for each security traded, in contrast to 619,820 units valued at $4,039,520 on Friday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 1,375,075 shares valued at $15,899,090 changing hands, compared 1,203,120 shares valued at $10,102,136 for each securities traded. June closed with an average of 1,608,485 units valued at $19,605,318 for each security traded.

In the main market activity, Barita Investments lost $4.11 to end at $78.89, in trading 123,826 shares, Grace Kennedy dropped 99 cents in trading 65,979 units, to end at $69.01, JMMB Group added $1 to end at $54, with 83,968 shares trading, Kingston Wharves lost $4.16 to end trading of 11,134 shares at $65.84. NCB Financial dropped 25 trading 77,186 units to end at $200.02, PanJam Investment declined by $1.50 in trading 37,499 stock units at $97.50, Sagicor Group lost 50 cents trading 169,100 stock units to end at $54. Salada Foods climbed $1.50 to end at $35 in trading 25,000 shares, Supreme Ventures rose $2 and ended trading with 93,843,191 shares to close at $28, Sygnus Credit Investments lost 77 cents to close at $15 while trading 53,303 shares and Wisynco Group exchanged 112,712 shares and gained 35 cents to close at $19.95.
Trading in the US securities market resulted in 1,062,929 units valued at over US$158,026 changing hands. Market activity ended with JMMB Group 6% preference share trading 9,300 units to end at US$1, Proven Investments added 0.7 cent, in trading 225,150 shares to close at 25.70 US cents, Sterling Investments traded 5,000 shares with a rise of 0.03 cent to 0.4 US cents and Sygnus Credit Investments with a rise of 2 cents to 12.49 US cents, in trading 823,479 units. The JSE USD Equities Index declined by 1.51 points to close at 188.45.
