JSE main market index rise – Friday

The Jamaica Stock Exchange ended trading on Friday with the JSE All Jamaican Composite Index rising 1,052.67 points to 564,753.60 even as declining stocks exceeded those rising.
The JSE Index climbed 890.78 points to 514,182.55 and the JSE Financial Index gained 0.24 points to close at 140.23. At the close of trading, 9 advanced, 13 declined and 14 traded firm as  36 securities in the main and US market compared to 37 on Thursday. Trading in the main market ended with 23,486,112 units valued at $198,066,208, in contrast to 18,740,935 units valued at over $117,219,686 on Thursday.
Wigton Windfarm led trading with 11.6 million shares for 49 percent of total volume, followed Sagicor Select Fund with 9 million units accounting for 39 percent of the day’s trade and NCB Financial Group with 553,993 shares for 2 percent of the main market’s volume.
The Market closed with an average of 671,032 units valued at an average of $5,659,034 for each security traded. In contrast to 506,512 units for an average of $3,168,100 on Thursday. The average volume and value for the month to date amounts to 744,783 units valued at $6,659,753 and units previously 752,201 units valued at $6,771,654 for each security traded. The market closed out August with an average of 1,743,431 units valued at $9,907,963 for each security traded.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading shows 10 stocks ended with bids higher than their last selling prices and 5 with lower offers.
In main market activity, Barita Investments lost $1 to settle at $74 with 25,856 shares changing hands, with 260 stock units trading, Berger Paints  declined 40 cents to end at $18.05, in trading 6,363 shares, hands, Caribbean Cement gained $5.50 to end at $83 with 4,589 stock units trading. Eppley Caribbean Property Fund dropped $5.09 to end at an all-time low of $39.90 while trading 208 shares, Jamaica Producers lost 54 cents to settle at $23.51 with 9,190 shares changing hands, Jamaica Stock Exchange gained 94 cents to end at $25.50, trading 123,004 shares. JMMB Group gained 90 cents to settle at $48.90 with 364,022 shares changing hands. Mayberry Investments lost 49 cents to end at $8.81 with 185,343 stock units trading, Mayberry Jamaican Equities shed 48 cents to end at $12, trading 21,617 shares, MPC Caribbean Energy gained $22.66 to end at all-time high of $153.06, in trading 520 shares, NCB Financial rose $4 to end at $213, with an exchange of 553,993 stock units. Sagicor Group fell $1.49 to settle at $71.01 with 6,406 shares changing hands, Salada Foods fell 50 cents to close at $32 with an exchange of 3,571 shares, Seprod lost 50 cents to settle at $54 with 64,415 shares changing hands and Sygnus Credit Investments rose $1 in trading 214,718 shares at $25.
The JSE USD Equities Index closed at 190.71 as Sygnus Credit Investments was the only stock trading in the market with 190,000 units valued at US$28,500 to close at 15 US cents.
