Dolla led Jamaica Stock Exchange trading


Dolla Financial led the Jamaica Stock Exchange in volume with nearly 488 million shares changing hands, of which 475 million units traded at $1.97 on Thursday. The trade helped push the volume of stocks exchanged to 527,749,742 shares in all three markets, from 116,780,256 units on Wednesday, with the value traded on the Junior and Main markets to $1.09 billion, up from $135.07 million on the previous day. At the end of trading, prices of 36 shares rose, 49 declined and 24 remained firm.

At the close of the market, the JSE Combined Market Index declined 1,320.92 points to 345,914.63, the All Jamaican Composite Index skidded 1,176.35 points to settle at 400,725.36, the JSE Main Index dropped 1,111.28 points to wrap up trading at 339,622.14, the Junior Market Index slipped 35.90 points to a new multi-year low of 2,952.02 and the JSE USD Market Index rallied 0.45 points to 232.48.
At the close of the market, the JSE USD market concluded trading with an exchange of 2,598,880 shares for US$847,483, down sharply from 75,013,983 units at US$25,753,494 on Wednesday.
In Main Market activity, Transjamaican Highway led trading with 4.70 million shares, followed by JMMB Group 10% with 957,816 stocks and Wisynco Group with 563,731 units.
In Junior Market trading, Dolla Financial led with 487.68 million shares, followed by Kintyre Holdings with 16.62 million stocks and AMG Packaging with 4.90 million units.
In the preference segment, 138 Student Living preference share dipped $10 to finish at $190 and Sygnus Credit Investments 10% fell $1.50 to $109.
