Cooled trading on T&T Stock Exchange


Trading activity cooled on Thursday following a surge in the number of companies trading on Wednesday on the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange. The volume of stocks traded declined by 11 percent, valued 9 percent more than on Wednesday, with an exchange of 19 securities down from 30 on the preceding day, with prices of three rising, nine declining and seven ending firm.

The market closed with trading of 121,573 shares for $1,788,594 compared to 136,226 stock units at $1,638,540 on Wednesday.
An average of 6,399 shares were traded at $94,137 after jumping from 4,541 units at $54,618 on Wednesday, with trading month to date averaging 11,888 shares valued at $108,810 compared with 12,125 units at $109,444 on the prior day and an average of 14,083 shares at $118,753 for June.
The Composite Index dropped 5.21 points to close at 1,007.64, the All T&T Index lost 5.65 points to 1,438.08, the SME Index popped 0.12 points to settle at 76.60 and the Cross-Listed Index declined 0.67 points to end at 76.64.
Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows one stock ended with a bid higher than the last selling price and one with a lower offer.
At the close of trading, Angostura Holdings gained 25 cents to end at $10.75 with 3,050 stocks passing through the market, Ansa McAl fell 50 cents to $45 with an exchange of 1,170 units, AS Bryden ended at $1.39 with 2,221 shares changing hands. CIBC Caribbean Bank remained at $7.55 with investors trading 10,000 stocks, Eric Solis Marketing closed at $4.17 after an exchange of 1,205 shares, First Citizens Group dropped 25 cents to close at $39.25 with investors trading 3,043 units. GraceKennedy ended at $4 with 3,691 stock units crossing the exchange, Guardian Holdings fell 25 cents in closing at $16 after a transfer of 4,792 stock units, Guardian Media slipped 5 cents to 81 cents with 500 shares crossing the market. JMMB Group remained at 85 cents after trading of 7 stock units, Massy Holdings shed 8 cents to close at $3.50 in an exchange of 15,088 stocks, National Enterprises ended at $4.60 with investors dealing in 1,231 units. NCB Financial declined 5 cents to $3.20 in switching ownership of 48,630 stocks, Prestige Holdings popped 2 cents to $13 with investors swapping 331 units, Republic Financial dipped $1.05 in closing at $108.85 in an exchange of 8,770 shares. Scotiabank skidded 19 cents to end at $45.25 with 1,633 stock units crossing the market, Trinidad & Tobago NGL closed at $10.20 with trading of 13,295 shares, Unilever Caribbean increased 57 cents to finish at $14.97 after an exchange of 967 stocks and West Indian Tobacco declined by 5 cents to $4.15 with a transfer of 1,949 units.
