The Jamaica Stock Exchange recorded losses in the two main indices at the end of trading on Tuesday. In the end, the prices of 17 securities gained out of a total of 41 securities that traded, with 15 declining in the overall market, including 8 stocks, rising and 4 falling from the junior market.
Trading closed with 6,763,382 units valued at $72,594,150 changing hands, in all market segments. The junior market accounted for 1,683,513 units, valued at $7,988,309 of all trades.
The JSE Market Index fell 164.30 points to end at 160,452.08, the all Jamaica Composite Index lost 183.75 points to close at 178,275.85 and a sharp rise in the prices of junior market stocks helped push the JSE combined index up by 687.44 points, to end at 171,793.95.

The highlight for the day was a decline in Scotia Group that decline as low as $26.50 after trading as high as $30.50 earlier in the day and a new closing high For Grace Kennedy at $46.50.

Grace Kennedy traded for the first time with the 3 for 1 stock split in effect on Tuesday. The stock traded at a new all-time high of $47.71 but closed back at the adjusted closing price on Monday of $41.67 with 16,372 units changing hands. At the close 289,050 units were offered to sell at $41.67. Elsewhere, Caribbean Cement rose 95 cents to close at $26.50 while trading 94,264 shares, Carreras jumped 93 cents with just 620 units trading to close $66.45, Jamaica producers fell 55 cents to end at $7.60 with 158,131 units changing hands, Jamaica Stock Exchange jumped $2.40 to $23.50 as 14,147 shares traded,

Mayberry Investments sold 11,990,487 units from their inventory at $4.71 to Scotia Investments for a mix of buying for in-house inventory and for clients. In the afternoon session Mayberry crossed 27,884,209 units and bought them for in-house inventory with 27,821,082 units, trading at $4.52 each.
In the overall market the prices of 10 securities gained out of a total of 37 securities that traded, with 13 declining, including 5 stocks, rising and 1 falling from the junior market.

In the overall market the prices of 19 securities gained out of a total of 46 securities that traded, with 10 declining, including 9 stocks, rising and 5 falling from the junior market.
The gains enjoyed on Wednesday was almost erased as the JSE Market Index dropped 2,117.74 points to end at 160,164.47, the all Jamaica Composite Index sunk 2,368.36 points to close at 177,954.20 and the JSE combined index nosedived 1,837.75 points, to end at 171,104.13.

Proven Investments traded 421,807 units to close at 19 US cents, JMMB Group 7.5% preference share traded 523,182 shares to close at $1.10 after falling 2 cents and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.5% preference share traded 24,715 shares to close at $2.09.

Prices surged on the Jamaica Stock Exchange as the prices of 19 securities gained pushing the main market indices up sharply. A total of 40 securities traded, with 19 rising, 10 declining, including an equal number of 5 stocks, rising and falling from the junior market.
The JSE Market Index jumped 2,358.31 points to end at 162,282.21 the all Jamaica Composite Index surged 2,637.40 points to close at 180,322.56 and the JSE combined index climbed 1,894.91 points, to end at 172,941.88.
Supreme Ventures traded 8,126,388 units that help push market volume to 14,235,064 units valued at $406,796,824 changing hands, in all market segments. The junior market accounted for 2,802,872 units traded, valued at $13,180,124 of all trades.

Kingston Properties traded 10,483 shares but lost 7 cents to end at $8.93. Kingston Wharves gained 3 cents with 35,725 units changing hands and closed at $15.53, Mayberry Investments gained 23 cents with 10,000 shares trading, to close at $3.30, National Commercial Bank traded 11,505 units changing hands, to close with a gain of 70 cents at $42.50, Pan Jamaican traded 2,618 shares and rose by 49 cents to end at $25.50.
