JSE stocks end with gains – Monday
The Jamaica Stock Market main market made gains in the two main indices at post losses at the end the close of trading on Monday. At the end of trading with the prices of 14 securities gaining out of a total of 46 securities that traded, with 19 declining in the overall market, including 5 stocks, rising and 9 falling from the junior market.
Trading closed with a volume of 3,417,026 units valued at $37,563,031 changing hands, in all market segments. The junior market accounted for 1,526,008 units traded, valued at $8,120,692 of all trades.
The JSE Market Index climbed 531.05 points to end at 160,616.38, the all Jamaica Composite Index gained 593.90 points to close at 178,459.60 and a sharp fall in the prices of junior market stocks pressured the JSE combined index in losing 330.86 points, to end at 171,106.51.
IC bid-offer Indicator| At the end of trading, in the main and junior markets, the Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator reading showed 11 stocks with bids higher than their last selling prices and 4 with lower offers.
At the end of market activities, Barita Investments ended trading with 396,428 units, to close at $3, Berger Paints climbed 36 cents in trading 3,766 units, to close at $5.16, Cable & Wireless traded 156,837 shares but lost 5 cents to close at $1.10, Caribbean Cement fell 99 cents in trading 5,403 shares to close at $27. Carreras fell $1.22, in trading 5,028 shares to end at $65.05, the price of 1834 Investments gained 3 cents, in trading 43,192 shares, to end at $1.38, Grace Kennedy ended at $46.50 with 210,612 shares changing hands, Jamaica Broilers dropped 54 cents in trading 1,720 shares to end at $15. Jamaica Producers dropped 30 cents to close at $7.90 with 87,115 units trading, Jamaica Stock Exchange had just 300 units changing hands to close at $21.50, JMMB Group traded 162,686 units to end at $9.86. Kingston Wharves traded 37,739 shares to close at $16 after rising 45 cents, Mayberry Investments ended with 5,937 shares trading to close at $3.95, National Commercial Bank had 111,022 units changing hands, to close at $42 after falling 50 cents. Pan Jamaican Investments lost 10 cents and closed at $25.20 after trading 7,635 shares, Radio Jamaica fell 8 cents to close at $1.65 after 70,322 shares changed hands, Sagicor Group rose 5 cents with 79,743 shares changing hands at $21.50, Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 500 shares but gained 22 cents to close at $10.22. Scotia Group traded 26,125 shares to end at $29 after rising by $1.90, Supreme Ventures loss 10 cents to $4.70 with 221,427 shares changing hands, Proven Investments ordinary share traded 210,900 units at 19.98 US cents.
JSE stocks close slightly up – Monday
Supreme Ventures was the dominant trade by far on the Jamaica Stock Exchange on Monday with 39,898,309 trading between $4.71 and the closing price of $4.52 after falling 18 cents. Mayberry Investments sold 11,990,487 units from their inventory at $4.71 to Scotia Investments for a mix of buying for in-house inventory and for clients. In the afternoon session Mayberry crossed 27,884,209 units and bought them for in-house inventory with 27,821,082 units, trading at $4.52 each.
In the overall market the prices of 10 securities gained out of a total of 37 securities that traded, with 13 declining, including 5 stocks, rising and 1 falling from the junior market.
The market closed with an overall volume of 42,773,267 units valued at $ 226,239,889 changing hands, in all market segments. The junior market accounted for 257,522 units traded, valued at $1,655,683 of all trades.
The JSE Market Index rose 14.60 points to end at 159,983.00, the all Jamaica Composite Index inched up 16.33 points to close at 177,751.26 and the JSE combined index gained 40.82 points, to end at 170,905.17.

At the end of market activities, Berger Paints traded 6,608 shares to end at $4.60 after falling 4 cents, Cable & Wireless traded 134,255 shares to close at $1.26, Caribbean Cement gained 5 cents in trading 37,805 shares to close at $25.55. Carreras lost 48 cents, in exchanging 4,095 shares to end at $65.52 ahead of the release of its June quarter profit results, showing profit of $861 million or earnings of $1.77 per share, versus $623 million or $1.28 per share, in 2015. Grace Kennedy gained $2.30 to close at $125 with 12,959 shares changing hands, Jamaica Broilers traded 26,599 shares to end at $15. Jamaica Stock Exchange had 9,100 shares trading but slipped 89 cents to close at $21.10, JMMB Group traded 2,105 units to end at $9.80, after falling 10 cents. Kingston Wharves rose by 15 cents with 10,090 units changing hands and closed at $15.55, National Commercial Bank had 55,253 units changing hands, to close with a loss of 1 cent at $42. Trading in 138 Student Living resulted in a loss of 1 cent to close at $4.59 while trading 710,208 shares, Pan Jamaican traded 15,750 shares to end at $25.50. Portland JSX traded 33,900 shares and lost 50 cents to end at $12, Radio Jamaica gained 8 cents to close at $1.68 after 170,000 shares changed hands, Sagicor Group lost 5 cents with 14,950 shares changing hands at $21.45, Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 16,000 shares to close at $10.22. Scotia Group traded 13,354 shares to end at $30.17 after falling by 43 cents, Scotia Investments declined by 10 cents with 2,000 units changing hands at $26 and Proven Investments ended trading 1,328,125 units to close at 19.99 US cents.
JSE stocks close down on Friday
The Jamaica Stock Exchange main market indices declined again on Friday but well below the more than 2,000 points it fell by on Thursday. In the overall market the prices of 10 securities gained out of a total of 36 securities that traded, with 17 declining, including 3 stocks, rising and 6 falling from the junior market.
The market closed with an overall volume of 3,195,511 units valued at $184,753,798 changing hands, in all market segments. The junior market accounted for 260,545 units traded, valued at $1,819,326 of all trades.
The JSE Market Index fell 196.07 points to end at 159,968.40, the all Jamaica Composite Index sunk 219.27 points to close at 177,734.93 and the JSE combined index dived 239.78 points, to end at 170,864.35.

Trading in 1834 Investments, led to a lost of 1 cent with 16,436 shares changing hands to close at $1.20, Grace Kennedy dropped $3.30 to close at $122.70 with 3,881 shares changing hands, Jamaica Producers fell 5 cents in trading 14,200 shares to end at $8.15. Jamaica Stock Exchange had 10,000 shares trading but slipped 1 cents to close at $21.99, JMMB Group traded 1,450 units to end at $9.90, after gaining 20 cents. Kingston Wharves lost 60 cents with 8,500 units changing hands and closed at $15.40, National Commercial Bank had 66,966 units changing hands, to close with a loss of 1 cent at $42.01, Pan Jamaican traded 2,350 shares and rose 25 cents to end at $25.50. Portland JSX traded 4,000 shares and lost 5 cents to end at $12.50, Radio Jamaica lost 5 cents to close at $1.60 after 10,400 shares changed hands, Sagicor Group had 163,785 shares changing hands at $21.50, Sagicor Real Estate Fund traded 1,080 shares to close at $10.22. Scotia Group traded 404,540 shares to end at $30.60, Scotia Investments declined by 40 cents with 16,300 units changing hands at $26.10, Supreme Ventures rose 19 cents to end at $4.70, with 200,690 units changing hands. Proven Investments rose 0.99 US cent while trading 1,035,300 units to close at 19.99 US cents and Jamaica Money Market Brokers 7.5% preference share traded 484,000 units to close at $2.09 but lost 1 cent.
