Another big Elite day on the Junior Market


Elite Diagnostic ended as the top trader on the Jamaica Stock Exchange Junior Market for the 4th time in 6 trading days, accounting for 41.6 million units, 92 percent of traded volume. Friday’s trading ended with significantly higher activity than on Thursday, with trading volume surging 725 percent and the value jumping 833 percent compared with Thursday. Trading closed with an exchange of 40 securities, down from 41 on Thursday and ended with prices of 14 rising, 21 declining and five closing unchanged.

The market closed with trading of 45,061,140 shares for $77,107,032, after increasing from only 5,462,459 units at $8,266,954 on Thursday.
Trading averaged 1,126,529 shares at $1,927,676, after it climbed from 133,231 stock units at $201,633 on Thursday. Trading for the month to date averages 864,476 stock units at $1,580,443 compared to 822,380 stock units at $1,524,663 on the preceding day and an average of 324,023 shares at $544,060 for September.
Elite Diagnostic led trading with 41.60 million shares for 92.3 percent of total volume, followed by One Great Studio with 555,640 units for just 1.2 percent of the day’s trade and Atlantic Hardware with 474,050 stocks for a mere 1.1 percent of the volume traded.
At the close of trading, the Junior Market Index popped 23.34 points to close at 3,108.68. The Investor’s Choice bid-offer indicator shows six stocks ending with bids higher than their last selling prices and four with lower offers.

At the close of trading, Access Financial gained $2.29 to close at $19.95 with 510 units crossing the market, Atlantic Hardware shed 5 cents to close at $1.52 after an exchange of 474,050 stocks, Blue Power popped 6 cents to finish at $3.29 with investors trading 3,204 shares. Cargo Handlers climbed by 10 cents to $15.82 in switching ownership of 6,347 stock units, Derrimon Trading dropped by 6 cents to 82 cents with trading of 49,894 shares, Dolla Financial rose 8 cents to end at $3.86 with 347,900 stocks crossing the market. Dolphin Cove fell $1.41 in closing at $8.71 with investors dealing in 35,357 units, Elite Diagnostic advanced 7 cents to $1.85 after trading of 41,595,419 stock units, Express Catering dipped 10 cents to $2.90 with an exchange of 6,534 shares. Fontana rallied 8 cents to finish at $6.18 with 10,324 stocks changing hands, Fosrich lost 13 cents to end at $1.45 in an exchange of 14,665 units, GWest Corporation skidded 9 cents to close at 61 cents with 6,073 stock units clearing the market. Honey Bun declined 5 cents to $7.61 with a transfer of 350 shares, Image Plus slipped 7 cents and ended at $1.80 with 464,018 shares changing hands, Indies Pharma fell 5 cents and ended at $2.64 with investors swapping 256,157 stocks. Jamaican Teas increased 15 cents to close at $2.15 with 6,932 units passing through the exchange, Jetcon Corporation climbed by 15 cents to end at $4.80 after a transfer of 76,286 stocks, Knutsford Express rose 66 cents to $8.44 in trading of 4,711 units. Lumber Depot dipped 21 cents to $2.28 after an exchange of 108,931 shares, while Main Event lost 39 cents to end at $3.40 with a transfer of 1,031 stocks, ONE on ONE Educational skidded 8 cents in closing at 72 cents as investors exchanged 314,052 shares and Regency Petroleum dropped 8 cents to $4.05 with 15,823 stocks passing through the market.
